Partnerships

At Kangaroo Plus, we believe that collaboration is key to transforming neonatal care and reducing mortality rates among preterm and low birth weight babies in Uganda and beyond. Our innovative Kangaroo+ jacket combines warmth, temperature monitoring, and accessibility to bridge gaps in traditional Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC) and modern healthcare systems. We are eager to partner with like-minded organizations, institutions, and individuals to amplify our impact.

Collaborations

Design Without Borders Logo
Kangaroo Plus Ltd, a neonatal innovation dedicated to saving preterm and low birth weight babies, has benefited from a dynamic collaboration with Design without Borders Africa. Through an engaging, human-centered design process, the team refined the Kangaroo+ jacket, enhancing its functionality and sustainability. This low-cost solution not only provides essential warmth but also features a temperature monitor that lights up red and buzzes to alert mothers when a baby experiences hypothermia—a critical advancement for Uganda, where high-tech options like incubators are scarce. The World Health Report highlights that one million babies die annually due to prematurity and low birth weight, underscoring the urgency of this work.

We Plan To Target

Ministry of Health (MoH)

We are targeting partnerships with Uganda’s MoH to integrate Kangaroo+ into public hospitals and Health Centre IIIs, starting with 5 pediatric wards and 5 maternity units, to standardize and enhance neonatal care nationwide.

Healthcare Innovators:

We welcome co-creation with biomedical engineers, tech developers, and startups to refine our temperature-monitoring system and explore scalable solutions.

Regional Referral Hospitals:

Collaborating with Uganda’s 14 regional referral hospitals to address emergency cases and complex referrals for preterm and LBW babies.
